TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro are the two IPTV players our customers ask about the most. Both are excellent, both play the same playlists, and yet they are built for very different people. Pick the wrong one and you end up fighting the app instead of watching TV.
We install and support both apps every day for IPTV EVER customers. Here is an honest, side-by-side comparison to help you choose in two minutes.
Quick verdict
Choose TiviMate if you watch mostly live TV on a Fire TV Stick, an Android TV box or an Android Smart TV: its TV guide, catch-up, recording and multiview are the best you can get on a big screen.
Choose IPTV Smarters Pro if you watch on a phone, an iPhone or iPad, a computer, or if you mainly watch movies and series: it works almost everywhere and its on-demand section is easier to browse.

Supported devices: the deciding factor
For most people, the device decides for them.
TiviMate is designed for Android TV and remote-control navigation. Its developer says clearly that it is not optimized for phones or tablets, and it does not exist on iPhone, Apple TV, Samsung (Tizen) or LG (webOS) TVs. On a Fire TV Stick or an Android TV box, though, it feels like a premium cable box.
IPTV Smarters Pro is cross-platform: Android phones and TV boxes, Fire TV, iPhone and iPad, Windows and macOS. Versions also exist for some Smart TVs, depending on your model and country. If your household watches on several types of screens, Smarters lets everyone use the same app.
| Your device | Best choice |
|---|---|
| Amazon Fire TV Stick / Fire TV Cube | TiviMate (Smarters also works) |
| Android TV box, Nvidia Shield, Android / Google TV | TiviMate |
| Android phone or tablet | IPTV Smarters Pro |
| iPhone, iPad | IPTV Smarters Pro |
| Windows PC or Mac | IPTV Smarters Pro |
| Samsung or LG Smart TV | Neither is guaranteed: see our setup guide for the apps that work on your TV |
Live TV and TV guide: TiviMate wins
If you watch live channels and sport, TiviMate is in another league. Its TV guide is a fast, full-screen grid that looks like a real cable box: you scroll through hours of programmes across hundreds of channels without lag. Channel zapping is quick, favourites are easy to organise, and with Premium you get:
- Catch-up: replay programmes that already aired, on channels where your provider offers it.
- Recording: record a match or a show to watch later.
- Multiview: watch several channels on the same screen, perfect for match days.
- Multiple playlists and deep customisation of the interface.
IPTV Smarters Pro has a TV guide and does the job, but it is more basic and less pleasant to browse on a big screen with a remote.
Movies and series: IPTV Smarters wins
TiviMate was built around live TV, and its movies and series section remains simple. IPTV Smarters Pro, on the other hand, presents your on-demand library like a streaming service: posters, categories, seasons and episodes, “continue watching”. If your family mostly watches films and series, Smarters is the more comfortable choice.
Its latest versions also added VLC as a built-in player with several decoders, and can switch player automatically when a stream fails to start. That helps on devices where the default player struggles.
Price: free vs premium
Both apps are free to download, and both sell upgrades inside the app. Prices vary by country and change regularly, so always check the current price in the app itself.
- TiviMate: the free version lets you test the app, but most of what makes it great (catch-up, recording, multiview, multiple playlists and more) requires TiviMate Premium. For a live-TV fan, it is worth it.
- IPTV Smarters Pro: free to install, with some features and ad removal behind a paid upgrade.
Remember: paying for either app does not give you any channels. Both developers state that a premium upgrade unlocks app features only. You still need an IPTV subscription to watch anything.
Watch out for fake apps
Search “IPTV Smarters” in an app store and you will find a dozen look-alikes from unknown developers, some paid, some full of ads. Some “Smarters doesn’t work” problems come from these copies. Check the developer name before installing:
- TiviMate: developer Armobsoft FZE, or the official site tivimate.com.
- IPTV Smarters Pro: developer Tech Smarters. The official app is now listed as “Smarters Pro”.
Which one should you choose?
Go with TiviMate if…
You watch on a Fire TV Stick or Android TV, you follow live sport, you want a real TV guide, catch-up and recording, and you are happy to pay for Premium.
Go with IPTV Smarters Pro if…
You watch on a phone, iPhone, iPad or computer, you mostly watch movies and series, or you want one app for every screen in the house.
And you don’t have to choose forever: with an IPTV EVER subscription you can use TiviMate on the living-room TV and Smarters on your phone with the same login details. Just keep in mind that a standard subscription allows one stream at a time, so if two people watch simultaneously, choose a multi-screen plan.
If a stream freezes in either app, the cause is rarely the app itself. Our guide on how to fix IPTV buffering includes the exact TiviMate and Smarters settings to change. Step-by-step installation instructions for every device are in our IPTV setup guide, and you can test both apps with a free 24-hour IPTV EVER trial.
TiviMate vs IPTV Smarters: FAQ
Is TiviMate better than IPTV Smarters?
For live TV on an Android TV device or Fire TV Stick, yes: its TV guide, catch-up, recording and multiview are clearly better. For phones, Apple devices, computers and movie libraries, IPTV Smarters Pro is the better choice.
Can I use TiviMate on an iPhone or a Samsung TV?
No. TiviMate only runs on Android TV devices. On iPhone, iPad or a computer, use IPTV Smarters Pro; for Samsung and LG TVs, check our setup guide for the compatible apps.
Is TiviMate free?
The app is free to install and try, but its most useful features require the paid TiviMate Premium upgrade, bought inside the app.
Do TiviMate or IPTV Smarters include channels?
No. Both are media players. You need an IPTV subscription and its login details (M3U link or Xtream Codes) to watch anything.
Which is the best IPTV app for a Fire TV Stick?
TiviMate, for most people. It is made for remote-control use on Android-based TV devices, and the Fire TV Stick is one of them. IPTV Smarters Pro also works well if you prefer its movie and series library. One exception: the newest Fire TV Sticks running Vega OS (Fire TV Stick 4K Select, Fire TV Stick HD 2026 and Fire TV Stick 4K 3rd gen) cannot install either app. Our guide to installing IPTV on Firestick shows how to check your model and what to do.
Can I use both apps with the same IPTV subscription?
Yes, you can install both and enter the same login details. Just don’t watch on both at the same time unless your plan includes several connections.
The bottom line
TiviMate is the best IPTV player for live TV on Android TV and Fire TV. IPTV Smarters Pro is the most versatile, and the best for phones, Apple devices and movie lovers. Both are only as good as the subscription you put in them: a stable service makes either one shine.
